KINGS MOUNTAIN- Wynona Phillips, born on June 22, 1963, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, at the age of 62. She departed this world surrounded by her loving family at Hospice, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Wynona had a unique zest for life that inspired everyone around her. Her passion for collecting frogs and gnomes brought joy to her home and sparked smiles from all who visited. In her younger years, she was an enthusiastic supporter of the Duke Blue Devils, cheering them on with unwavering spirit.

She was known for her adventurous spirit during Black Friday shopping sprees and her keen eye for treasures on Goodwill trips. Wynona's love for life and her quick wit were the simple pleasures that brought her great comfort and joy throughout her life.

Though she has left this world, Wynona's spirit lives on in the hearts of her surviving family and friends. She is survived by her significant other, Brian Drum; her son, Austin Phillips, and his wife Brook; her daughter, Stacy Putnam and her husband Brian; her brothers, Steve Childers and his wife Pam, Bruce Childers and his wife Janet, and Wyman Childers and his wife Peg. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren, Nathan Howell, Landyn Howell, Palmer Phillips, Sadie Phillips, and Presley Phillips.

Wynona was preceded in death by her mother, Peggy Yarbrough; her sister, Tricky Childers; and her brothers, Rodney Childers, Wynn Childers, and Donnie Arthurs. Their memories were forever cherished in her heart, and she now joins them in eternal peace.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00PM Wednesday Jun 24, 2026 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home in Kings Mountain. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Wynona Phillips will be remembered for her infectious laughter, her generous heart, and the love she shared with those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and inspiration for all who knew her.
