KINGS MOUNTAIN- William Roger Dellinger, a resident of Cleveland County, North Carolina, was born on March 21, 1945. He passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026, at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family.

A man who deeply cherished the outdoors, William could often be found riding his tractor or tending to his beloved cows. His faithful dog, Woody, was a constant companion by his side, who specifically could be found under his chair.

William served his country with honor for two years in the armed forces, a testament to his dedication and strength. Following his service, he dedicated his career to maintenance at Lithium, where he was known for his steadfast work ethic and reliability.

Left to treasure his memory is his devoted wife of 59 years, Shirley Dellinger, with whom he shared a remarkable journey filled with love and companionship. William is also survived by his son, Rodney Gilliam and wife Heather. His sister, Amelia Barnette, and her husband, Buddy; and his treasured grandchildren Bradley Gilliam and wife Chelsey, Tyler Gilliam and significant other Alexis, Dillion Gilliam and wife Cristy, Chris Gilliam, and Zach Gilliam and wife Bridget. His great-grandchildren Tanner, Leah, Chase, Sadie, Willow, Josie, Logan, and Demi will forever carry his spirit.

William is preceded in death by his parents, Burgin and Annie Dellinger, his sister Linda Arrowood, and his brothers Dennis, Ralph, Celenu, Craton, and James Dellinger.

William Roger Dellinger was a man who lived life on his own terms, fiercely loved those around him, and found joy in the simple things. According to his wife, Shirley, he was also known for his loud mouth and hard-headed nature—qualities that made him uniquely himself. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his loving heart, simple way of life, and the many memories he leaves behind.
