Wilene Smith

December 25, 1924 — July 31, 2017

SHELBY: Wilene Bailey Smith, 92, died Monday, July 31, 2017, at White Oak Manor in Shelby. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Eula Doty Bailey. Wilene was a member of Westview Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She volunteered at the Baptist Association, was a member of Woodmen of the World, and was a former music director.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ambrose and John Bailey; sisters, Georgia Owens, Arrie Ellis, Betty Farrow and Nora Bailey


SURVIVED: She is survived by her daughter, Joy Hamrick and husband Jerry of Shelby; son, Ben Pearson and wife Sondra of Bessemer City; grandchildren, Jill Martin and husband Tom, Josh Hamrick and wife Jill, Jaime Kollock and husband Kevin, Bill Pearson and wife Darlene; step-grandchildren, Debbie Weidenhamer, Chris Leininger, and Melissa Daley; 10 great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. Clarke, Nurse Practitioner Lashonda Barnett, and all the staff at White Oak Manor, for their love and care.

CELEBRATION SERVICE: The family will celebrate Wilene’s life, Thursday, 6pm, at Westview Baptist Church. The family will gather to receive friends following the service, in the fellowship hall.

OFFICIATING: Dr. Rick Bowling will officiate
