KINGS MOUNTAIN- Mr. Walter George Horton, Jr. of 145 Dunes Drive, passed away Tuesday July 23, 2013 at Kings Mountain Hospice. A native of Mecklenburg County, he was born August 6, 1929, son of the late Walter George, Sr. and Marion Kennedy Horton. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Shelby and a member of the Reggie Ledford Sunday School Class.
PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Mangrum.
SURVIVED: He is survived by one sister, Sally Jones of Kings Mountain; family members, Troy Jones and wife Karan, Mark and Cole Mangrum, Dr. Vista Rainey and husband Mike.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Friday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel of Shelby.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends 6-7:30 pm Thursday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby.
CLERGY: Rev. Tony Tench
BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Charlotte.
MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Shelby, 120 N Lafayette St Shelby, NC 28150
