KINGS MOUNTAIN - Virginia Diane Trammell Ormand, 87, peacefully departed this world on December 13, 2025, at Testa Family Hospice House, in Kings Mountain , NC, with family by her side. Diane was born on August 14, 1938, in Rome, Ga, to the late James A. and Virginia S. Trammell.
After being raised in a nurturing environment, Diane graduated from Kings Mountain High School, and attended Anderson University in SC. Once her sons were grown, she enjoyed a successful career in Real Estate in Rocky Mount, NC. In her forties, driven by her desire to help others, she earned an Associate Degree in Nursing from Nash Community College, and subsequently became a Registered Nurse. She began her long career in her favorite area, Labor & Delivery, at ECU Health, in Tarboro, NC. She continued her rewarding nursing career in both Gaston and Cleveland counties.
Diane had a variety of hobbies, some of which she continued to pursue into her final days. At various points in her lifetime, she enjoyed playing the piano, bowling, participating in bridge clubs, reading, working puzzles, and playing Scrabble. One of her most rewarding hobbies was baking cakes, cookies, and candies, to the delight of family and friends, especially at
Christmastime. Diane loved to travel, and took the greatest pleasure in visiting many countries in Europe and beyond. In 2024 she enjoyed her final big trip, to Ireland, and was able to trace some Ormand ancestry while there.
In addition to her parents, Diane was preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, Joe Meek Ormand, who was her high school sweetheart. She was also preceded by her middle son, James Avery Ormand (Jim), and her second husband, Robert Houser.

Brother F. Mike Trammell (Roxie), Kings Mountain, NC and Sister Janie T. Moss, Kings Mountain, NC
Grandchildren Justin L. Ormand,( Joseph Claro) , Philadelphia, PA and Emily G. Ormand, Irmo, SC
Great grandchildren Jackson and Connor Huff, Irmo, SC
Diane also had nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly: Jason Trammell (Lara), Jenny Tharp (Brandon), Jon Summey.
Virginia Diane Trammell lived a life full of purpose, adventure, and compassion, and she will be dearly missed. The family extends a special thanks to Testa Family Hospice House staff, and to Eileen Ormand, for their unwavering care of Diane. A memorial service will be held at 1:00PM on January 10, 2026 in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home , 303 Phifer Road Kings Mountain, NC 28086. Visitation prior to the service: 12-12:50
