SHELBY- Vickie Devine Jackson, a beacon of love and inspiration, passed away on February 7, 2026, at Wendover Hospice in Shelby, NC. Born on May 12, 1946, in Cleveland County, NC, she graced this world with her presence for 79 vibrant years.

Vickie's life was a tapestry woven with threads of compassion, creativity, and unwavering faith. As a talented seamstress, her hands brought warmth and joy through the quilts she lovingly crafted for veterans and the costumes she designed for her church's events. Her dedication to teaching children at Bethel Baptist Church and the Good News Club left an indelible mark on young hearts, guiding them toward Jesus, kindness and wisdom. Vickie was also a very proud member of the choir at Bethel.

In her younger years, Vickie actively participated in the Republican Women of Cleveland County, embodying a spirit of community engagement and leadership. Her commitment to service extended beyond her earthly journey, touching countless lives with her generosity and grace.

Preceded in death by her beloved parents, Max H. Devine and Grace Padgett Devine; her devoted husband, Jerry D. Jackson; her brother, Phillip Devine; sisters, Martha Devine, Muriel Grigg, and Mable Shepherd; and nephew, Charles Hugh Howell Jr., Vickie’s legacy of love endures through her surviving family. She is cherished by her sisters, Peggy Devine Howell, Dorothy Devine Tesseneer and husband Kenneth, Vallery Devine McCoy and husband Tom, and Pam Devine. Her nieces and nephews—Phyllis Cobb, Kevin Devine, David Devine, Debbie Owens, Jeff Grigg, Wayne Grigg, Frank Shepherd, Scott Shepherd, Sheila Hall, Kenneth Tesseneer, John Tesseneer, Amy Patty, Thomas McCoy, and Brian McCoy—held a special place in her heart, as she adored them as if they were her own children. Her affection extended even further to her numerous great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great-nephews, and great-great-nieces.

Her church family at Bethel Baptist Church also mourns her passing, remembering her infectious laughter and the joy she brought into their lives.
