SHELBY- Tommy Lionel Crawford, 69, of Shelby, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026. Born December 16, 1956 to Claude and Barbara Crawford. Known by many simply as “Snoop,” Tommy lived a life defined by hard work and good times.

A skilled carpenter, Tommy worked for 35 years at Cleveland Lumber Company where his craftsmanship was unparalleled. He took pride in every project and never let a scrap of material go unused. When at home, Tommy could usually be found around the family farm tinkering on projects in his shop, tending to the cows and dogs, or watching the farm channel on TV. As a collector of just about all things, mostly antique items, vintage cars, or anything that caught his eye, Tommy’s attention to detail was one of a kind.

Tommy’s candid nature wasn't for the faint of heart; he was about as sugar-coated as a piece of 80-grit sandpaper. He had a knack for letting you know exactly what he thought, whether you asked for it or not. If you wanted to know where you stood with Tommy, you didn't have to guess—he’d tell you.

Tommy is predeceased by his wife, Beth Crawford, of 38 years. He is survived by his siblings, Rhonda Crawford Newton, Rob Crawford, and Karen Grayson Caldwell; children, Grayson (Ashley) Crawford and Cameron (Leigh Ann) Crawford; and four grandchildren—Carter, Cady, Payton, and Elam.

His family will receive friends at Clay Barnette Funeral Home in Shelby, NC on Thursday, August 20 from 6-8 PM. A graveside funeral service will take place Friday morning, August 21 at Cleveland Memorial Park at 10 AM.

Services are entrusted to Clay-Barnette Funeral Home & Aquamation Center www.claybarnette.com
