Shelby Sharon Alice Northrop, born on July 23, 1939, in the beautiful state of Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, in Shelby, NC, at the age of 86. Her journey through life was marked by her unwavering love for family, her infectious spirit, and her steadfast faith.

Sharon's career spanned diverse roles as a Sterile Tech at Lee Memorial and as a dedicated laborer at a manufacturing company. Yet, it was her work outside of these roles that truly defined her. She was a woman of many passions, from the tight embrace of her hugs that could both take your breath away and revive your heart with a gentle pat, to her love for fishing and smoking. Her family was her world, and she delighted in good home-cooked meals and the joy they brought when shared together.

Her musical talents shone brightly as she played the guitar, singing along with heartfelt enthusiasm. She lovingly crocheted sweaters for her grandbabies, each stitch infused with warmth and affection. Sharon was always up for a friendly game of cards, where laughter and camaraderie ruled. Her favorite question, "Miss Missy, how's those babies?" captured her genuine care and interest in the lives of those she loved.

In Michigan, Sharon cherished playing softball with three of her daughters and shared the thrill of rabbit hunting with her sons.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Vivian Kennedy, her son, Keith Northrop, her brothers Roger and Richard Kennedy, and her sister Patricia Casey. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family: her daughters Debbie Webster (husband James), Johnna Wilson (husband Tim), Vickie Abbott (husband Andrew); her sons Danny Northrop (wife Sherry), Scott Northrop (wife Billie), and Robert Northrop (wife Janice). Her extensive family also includes numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a sister, Bonnie Jean Gentry.

Sharon's life was a testament to resilience, love, and unwavering faith. She leaves behind a tapestry of cherished memories and an eternal impact on all who were blessed to know her. Her spirit will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends, as they carry forward her legacy of love and compassion.
