Roy McArthur Lewis

Grover: Roy McArthur Lewis, age 82, of Cleveland County, completed his earthly journey on July 24, 2025. Born on January 10, 1943, in McDowell County, Roy lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and a steadfast love for his family and community.

Roy was the beloved store owner of Friendly's Stop & Shop, Shelby & Lewis Corner Store, and served the Fairview Community in Marion with warmth and generosity. He was known for his kind-hearted nature and friendly demeanor, always willing to lend a helping hand to those truly in need.

A devoted fan of the Washington Redskins and the Atlanta Braves, Roy found joy in watching his favorite teams play, sharing this passion with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pink Falls Lewis and Edna Arrowood; brothers, Pink Falls Lewis Jr. and John Lewis; sister, Virginia Guffey; and sons, Roy McArthur Lewis Jr., Rodney Carroll Lewis, and Jason Smith Lewis.

Roy leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory: his daughter, Sherry Lewis Thomas (Mark) of Shelby, and son, Tony McArthur Lewis (Ashley) of Shelby. He is also survived by his sisters, Carolyn Duncan and Marie Lewis of Shelby, and Lou Ledwell of Marion; brothers, Mike and Henry Lewis of Marion; three grandchildren, Paige McKinney (Billy), Carter, and Piper Lewis; and three great-grandchildren, Grayson, Cooper, and Sophia.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Monday, July 28, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home in Shelby. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm in the Chapel, where memories of Roy's generous spirit and gentle heart will be celebrated.

Roy McArthur Lewis will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness and community service will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
