LINWOOD- It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronnie Mitchell "Ron" Biggerstaff, who departed this life on March 29, 2026, at the age of 79 at the Salisbury VA Center. Born in Cleveland County on February 23, 1947, Ron's journey was one marked by dedication, passion, and resilience.

From a young age, Ron demonstrated a tireless work ethic and a keen interest in piping that would define his career. Starting with Daniels Construction in 1974, he laid the foundations of an illustrious career, moving on to Duke Energy from 1976 to 1982. He then joined Sanders Brothers not once, but twice, from 1985 to 1988 and again from 2001 to 2003. However, it was as the owner of Biggerstaff Construction Company from 1992 to 2001 that Ron truly made his mark. With roles at TB Macs and John J. Kirlin Construction rounding out his impressive resume, he retired in 2012, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, integrity, and leadership as a piping superintendent and esteemed business owner.

Beyond his professional achievements, Ron harbored a profound passion for Corvettes, owning many throughout his life. He loved to work on them and drive them. He had a dream to drive Route 66 in its entirety but only made it as far as Flagstaff. This love for speed and style reflected his zest for life—a drive that also saw him serve in the Army for three years during the Vietnam War. His time in service further cemented his reputation as a man of courage and duty. Ron loved to work in his yard and plant flowers. Once Ron retired he spent a lot of time driving his lawnmower and working in his yard.

Ron was a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He is survived by his devoted wife, Joy Adams Biggerstaff; sons Todd Biggerstaff and his wife Natalie, Adam LeBeau and his wife Liane and Josh Powell. He leaves cherished memories with his grandchildren: Tyler, Mollie, Brian, Zack, Bryn, Barrett, Boone, Weston, Saylor, and Savannah. Ron is also survived by his sisters, Linda Kennedy (JW) and Judy McSwain (Leonard); his brother, Reynold Biggerstaff (Darlene); and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him deeply.

As we say farewell to Ron, we are reminded of the love and laughter he shared with those around him, and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eldridge and Mildred Biggerstaff; his son, Travis Biggerstaff; and his grandson, Dylan Phillips.

Ron will be coming back home to Shelby, NC to be laid to rest. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Cleveland Memorial Park, where family and friends will gather to celebrate a life well-lived, a life that has touched and inspired all who knew him.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Salisbury VA for the excellent care they provided to Ron during his battle with dementia. They went above and beyond to ensure Ron was well cared for.
