SHELBY- Renn Long, 45, died Thursday June 16, 2016 at Shady Side Raceway. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of Ronnie Long and step mother, Jan and the late Linda Ivie Johnson. Renn was known for his love of cars; and had a talent to work on them as well. When he was at Shadyside Dragstrip, he was a happy man.

PRECEDED: In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his half brother, Jeff; and grandparents, R.N. and Nell Ivie and William and Helen Long.

SURVIVED: In addition to his father, he is survived by his daughter, who was his whole world, and light of his life, Lauren “Laurie” Ivie Dixon of Shelby; sister, Kellie Childress and husband Gary of Seneca, SC; two half brothers, Ronnie Long, Jr., and John McPurdy; step father, Robert “Sonny” Johnson; step siblings, Stacy, Rob, and John; two nephews, Brandon Adair and Renn Adair; one niece, Taylor Adair; his second in command, Mildred; Dustin Hollifield, his right hand man; Jim Dixon, his mentor; Annie Dixon, the Queen Bee; Heather Dixon, confidante and mother of his daughter.

SERVICES: Funeral Services will be held 11:00am, Wednesday at Flint Hill Baptist Church

VISITATION: The family will receive friend Tuesday, 6:30pm to 8:30 pm, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

CLERGY: Rev. Keith Dixon will officiate

INTERMENT: will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park
