SHELBY- R.T. Ernie Willis, 59, passed away Friday March 10, 2017 at Carolinas Healthcare System-Cleveland. A native of Cleveland County, he is the son of Tommy and Jane Wright Willis. Ernie’s life revolved around God, family, and law enforcement. Thirty-two years ago he married his soul mate. They enjoyed antiquing, auctions, collecting, and just being together. He spent his life serving others; with no regard for himself. Carried by faith, he was called home. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
PRECEDED: He is preceded in death by his wife Vanessa Willis.
SURVIVED: In addition to his parents, he is survived by one son, his fur baby boy, Theodore or “Teddy” for short; two daughters, Emilee Galloway and husband Nathan of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and his fur baby girl, Lucille or “Lucy” for short; one brother, Steve Willis and wife Nina of Shelby; two grandchildren, Lyla “Catfish” Jewel and Lily “Butterfly” Claire Galloway; one nephew, Andy Willis and wife Kari.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held 1pm Tuesday in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 11 am to 1 pm Tuesday at the funeral home and other times at his parents’ home, 114 Bear Creek Road, Shelby, NC 28152
CLERGY: Dr. Robert Rose will officiate
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to Zoar Baptist Church Window Fund or The Cleveland County Sheriff's Department: K-9 Division
INTERNMENT: Cleveland Memorial park immediately after the service
