LATTIMORE- Penny Denise Parton McDade, a beacon of love and laughter, was born on July 18, 1960, in Fort Dix, NJ, and peacefully passed away at her home in Lattimore on June 13, 2026, at the age of 65. Surrounded by her family, Penny’s vibrant spirit took flight, leaving behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and joy.
Throughout her life, Penny was a source of warmth and inspiration to everyone she met. Her bubbly personality and infectious smile had a way of lighting up any room, and she never met a stranger. Penny wanted to be remembered for making people smile, and she certainly fulfilled that wish every day. A strong, passionate, and loving woman, she touched the hearts of all who knew her with her caring nature.
Penny had a profound love for literature, especially poetry, with Emily Dickinson being her favorite poet. She found beauty and solace in words, often losing herself in their rhythm and meaning. Her love for pearls and jewelry mirrored her appreciation for the simple yet exquisite things in life. Shopping for clothes and tending to her beloved dogs were among the activities that brought her joy, and she adored daisies for their cheerful simplicity.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents, Chappell Wilford Parton and Constance Dean Reinhardt Webb; her sister, Cheba K. Parton; her brother, J. Chappell Parton; and her stepfather, Charles Martin Webb. Her memory will forever be cherished by her devoted husband of 22 years, Gregory McDade, of the home. She also leaves behind her stepmother, Patricia Hamm Parton, of Maryland; her brothers, Charles Webb II and wife Cindy of Shelby, and Jasen Parton of Maryland; her sisters, Sandy Webb Dillingham and husband Larry of Salisbury, Kimberly Edwards and husband Kenneth, and Tracy Parton, both of Maryland. Penny’s legacy continues through her children, son Jacob Martin of Shelby, and daughters Connie Tucker and husband Troy, and Emerald Wilkins and husband Stacy, both of Shelby. She was blessed with stepsons Adam McDade and wife Amanda of St. Louis, MO; Daniel McDade and wife Brittney of Chapin, SC; and Stephen McDade and wife April of Gastonia. Penny’s heart was fullest when surrounded by her 13 grandchildren, who were her greatest pride and joy.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, officiated by Dr. Tony McDade and Minister Ben McDade. Family and friends are invited to gather from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home to share memories and honor the beautiful life Penny lived.
In our hearts forever, Penny will be remembered as a woman who lived passionately, loved deeply, and shared her light generously. May her soul rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew her.
