SHELBY- Born on January 17, 1962, in Cleveland NC, and lifted into eternal rest on July 6, 2026, at the age of 64, Peggy Diane Pennington was a beacon of joy and inspiration to all who knew her. Surrounded by her loving family, she departed this world as she lived it—enveloped in love and laughter.

Peggy's life was a vibrant tapestry of adventure and cherished moments. Her love for travel took her on countless cruises and girls' trips, and she found serenity fishing on the pier. The roar of engines at dirt track racing filled her with excitement, while the hustle and bustle of flea markets, which she lovingly referred to as her "second home," brought her immense joy. Her Southside Market visits were not just errands, but cherished experiences shared with her beloved flea market friends.

Her greatest treasures were her family, especially her grandkids. Days spent with John, Jacob, and Chase were among her most precious memories. She loved all of her grandbabies with an unwavering devotion, leaving a legacy of love that will forever be cherished.

Peggy's infectious smile, her silly and goofy nature, and her boundless love left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. Her hugs were endless and comforting, her kisses on the cheek were like joy from the sky. Her spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was a devoted member of The Salvation Army Shelby Corps, where her faith and love for community shone brightly.

Peggy is preceded in death by her father, Walter Vess, her brother, Howard Champion, and beloved nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a family that adored her: her mother Peggy Love Champion, her daughters, Mary Ellen Williams and husband Brian, and JeanAnn Morrow and husband Todd; sisters Angie Arrison and husband John, and Bernice Saine and husband Jerry; brothers William "Willie" Hawkins and wife Susie, and Jerry Vess and wife Brandy. Her cherished grandchildren, John Williams, Jacob Morrow, and Chase Morrow, along with several nieces and nephews, will carry her memory forward. Special extended family members Paul Rich, Karen Hudson, Joshua Ray Hudson, and Johnathan Rich also hold her close in their hearts.

A visitation will be held from 1 PM to 2 PM at The Salvation Army Shelby Corps, followed by a memorial service celebrating Peggy's life at 2 PM. The services will take place at 305 N Lafayette St in Shelby, NC 28150.

Though Peggy has departed from our sight, her joyful spirit and loving heart will forever be a guiding light for those she leaves behind. Heaven got a little bit sweeter upon her arrival. Her legacy will live on in the smiles and laughter of her family and friends.
