SHELBY- Mr. Paul Roland “Watermelon Man” Granger, 70, of 597 Pontiac Drive, Shelby, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

FUNERAL: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 29, 2006 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel

BURIAL: Cleveland Memorial Park

VISITATION: From 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 28, 2006 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home.

PERSONAL HISTORY: A native of Worth County, Georgia, he was a son of the late E.L. Granger and Lily Anderson Granger. He was a retired truck driver since 1987 due to health, but never slowed down. He enjoyed cutting grass and selling watermelons and never missed a Braves or Duke game. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church.

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

SURVIVORS: He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Lib” Hull Granger of the home; three sons, Chris Allen and wife, Leslie of Mooresboro, Chip Granger and Shane Granger, both of Gaffney, SC; six daughters, Gaye Willis of Grover, Lisa Jones and husband, Frankie of Clover, Teresa Graf of Illinois, Bridget Granger of Alabama, Gidget Granger and Shannon Granger, both of Gaffney; two brothers, Buck Granger of Georgia and O. Gene Aleygood of South Carolina; four sisters, Elizabeth Fletcher of Arkansas, Jean Poole of South Carolina, Margaret Tucker and Jackie Suber, both of Georgia; six grandchildren, Shannon Allen, Timmy Carter, Josh Jones, Chelsea Davis, Christna Allen and Breanna Jones; and two great grandchildren, his little buddy Austin Harwell, and Kaylee Glover.
