Pauline "Polly" Howell

SHELBY- Mrs. Pauline “Polly” Howell, 91, of Shelby, passed away Monday March 25, 2013. A native of Rutherford County, she was born May 9, 1921, daughter of the late Forrest and Bessie Bridges Jones. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother who always put family first, her family was truly the love of her life. She was also a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church which she loved very much.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Grover Howell, Jr.; one daughter, Judy Goforth; one brother and six sisters.

SURVIVED: She is survived by one son, Thomas Howell, III of Spindale; one daughter, Cathy York and husband Skip of Lawndale; one brother, Robert Jones and wife Lee of Norfolk, VA; six grandchildren, Jackie Buckner, Ann Matheney both of Spindale, James Morrison of Forest City, Mark Howell of Winston Salem, Travis York of Cherryville, and Justin York of Shelby; fourteen great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held 7:00 pm Thursday at Bethel Baptist Church.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:30 – 7:00 pm at the church.

CLERGY: Dr. Tim Sims and Dr. J.M. Ezell will be officiating

BURIAL: Burial will be 11:00 am Friday at Sunset Cemetery.
