Minnie L. Garver

October 6, 1905 — May 18, 2007

SHELBY- Mrs. Minnie Justice Garver, 101, died Friday, May 18, 2007 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center. She was a native of Cleveland County, and daughter of the late Thomas and Ann Newton Justice. She was a 70 year member of First Baptist Church of Shelby, where she was active in the WMU, and a member of the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class. She volunteered as a “Pink Lady” at Cleveland Memorial Hospital and was a wonderful seamstress and gardener.

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: her husband, Summie Garver; a daughter, Germine Garver; a brother, Joe Justice; two sisters, Adele Justice and Dessie Richards; a grandson, Frank Garver Jr.; and a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Greenway.

SURVIVORS: two sons, Rev. Frank Garver and his wife Josie of Kings Mountain, and Dean Garver and his wife Sandra of Shelby; two daughters, Floy Walker and her husband Loran “Poe” of Shelby, and Sarah Padgett and her husband Steve of Anderson, SC; three sisters, Vada Garver of Lawndale, Bruna Richard of Casar, and Thomas Willis of Fallston; ten grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends tomorrow (Monday, 5/21) from 1:30 to 3:00pm in Webb Chapel of First Baptist Church and at other times at the home of Dean and Sandra Garver, 1000 W. Sumter St.

FUNERAL: The funeral will be held at 3:00pm in Webb Chapel.

BURIAL: will follow in Sunset Cemetery.

OFFICIATING CLERGY: Revs. Tony Tench, Perry Holleman, and Frank Garver.
