GROVER- Mildred Bell Dover peacefully departed from this world on September 4, 2026, at the age of 95, in the comforting embrace of her family at her cherished home. Born on January 30, 1931, in Cleveland Co., NC, she leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Throughout her life, Mildred filled her days with her love for word puzzles, the comforting drama of soap operas, and the soulful tunes of country music. She was happiest in the company of her beloved grandchildren, and each visit was an occasion marked by her love and care. She always enjoyed visits from her family and neighbors. She was known for her legendary fried chicken and red velvet cake, dishes that spoke volumes of the love she had for her family.

Her faith was a guiding light in her life, attending First Baptist Church in Grover, where she found solace and strength in her spiritual community. Mildred's heart was full of compassion, though often worried about her whole family. Her unique sense of humor shone brightly through her motto, "Laugh, Don't Cry," reminding everyone to find joy even in challenging times. She was always ready to nurse you back to health or humorously predict your demise, her candid banter reflecting her deep love and concern.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Leona Bell; her devoted husband, WQ Dover; and her brothers, Irvin, Coy, and Buster Bell. She now joins them in eternal rest.

Mildred is survived by her loving family, sons William "Bucky" Dover and wife Sun Ye, Kenneth Dover and wife Shelia; daughter Susie Scruggs and husband Billy. Her siblings include sisters Louise Hipps, Judy Causby, and Lilie Dellinger; brothers Isaac Bell and significant other Barbara, Charles Bell and wife Terry, and Ronald "Pete" Bell and wife Janey.

Her spirit lives on in her grandchildren, Tony Scruggs and wife Danell, Shelley Jones and significant other Rob, Tabatha Myers and husband Jerry, Kevin Dover and wife Brandi, Kenny Dover and wife Sarah, and Matt Dover and wife Susan. She also leaves behind twelve cherished great-grandchildren—Shawn (Rhea), Jake (Ava), Noah (Caroline), Dylan (Katie), Chris (Melissa), Luke (Heidi), Sarah, Seth (Lexi), Jayden, Liam, Leah, and Elsa—and seven joyful great-great-grandchildren—Colson, Liam, Anna, Violet, Kat, Gracie Mae, and Brody. Additionally, many nieces and nephews mourn her passing.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mildred’s remarkable life at a funeral service to be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home in Kings Mountain, officiated by Billy Scruggs. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. Following the service, Mildred will be laid to rest at Grover Cemetery.

Mildred Bell Dover’s memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her laughter, wisdom, and enduring love will continue to inspire all whose lives she touched.
