SHELBY- It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael “Mike” Green, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He departed this life on September 14, 2026, at the age of 79, surrounded by his family.

Born on November 7, 1946, in Cleveland County, he was a devoted member of his community and lived a life full of love, dedication, and quiet passions. He retired after a dedicated 35-year career with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, where he served with integrity and commitment. In his leisure time, Michael found joy in the simple pleasures of life: camping, spending time at the beach, woodworking, and fishing.

Mike was a faithful attendee of Bethel Baptist Church, where he was a cherished member of the Amazing Grays Senior Group. His faith was a guiding light throughout his life, offering him strength and comfort.

He is preceded in death by his parents, JC and Bertie Green; his brother, Charlie Green; and his sister, Deanie Goodson. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 58 years, Judy Green; his devoted son Tim Green; his loving daughter, Paula Stevens, and her husband Wes of Earl; his sister, Hilda McCarthy of Spartanburg, SC; his grandchildren, Josh Stevens of Concord, Cody Green and wife Libby of Kings Mountain, Dalton Stevens and wife Hannah of Boiling Springs, Logan Donaldson and husband Chris of Shelby and Presli Wiesenthal and husband Jacob of Boston, MA. He also leaves behind his sister-in-laws, Trudy Green of Shelby and Winborn Lee of Boiling Springs, as well as a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services to honor Michael's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Bethel Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Tim Sims. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the church prior to the service. Interment will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.

Mike's legacy of love and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the cherished memories of his family and friends.
