SHELBY- Rev. Melvin Johnson, 72, of 113 North Poston Street, passed away Tuesday August 13, 2013 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, he was born November 12, 1940, son of the late Melvin James and Rachel Johnson. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was past minister at Temple Baptist Church and he loved telling people about his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, he loved Christ with all his heart.

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Hall and Florence and John Elliott, one brother, Robert Johnson.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Beverly Trulove Johnson of the home; two sons, Michael Johnson and wife Deborah of Hickory, Darian Johnson of the home; two daughters, SusanJohnson and fiancé Johnny Lovett of Forest City, Brandy Peters and husband James of Kings Mountain; one brother Bob Roadcap and wife Darla of Shelby; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren.

SERVICES: a funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 am at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel of Shelby.

VISITATION: the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in Sunset Cemetery
