Mary Elizabeth Gardner, 85, of St. Augustine, died Dec. 4, 2007, at the Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring in Jacksonville. Mrs. Gardner was a native of Bessemer City, N.C., and moved to St. Augustine in 2006 from Shelby, N.C. Mrs. Gardner was a factory worker at Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co., in Shelby, a member of the Woodman of the World and was active in Bethel Baptist Church and Anastasia Baptist Church.
In addition to he parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Carl Wray Gardner, Sr.
Survivors: Her sons, Carl Wray Gardner, Jr., and Thomas William Gardner, both of St. Augustine; sisters, Margaret Fowler and Marjorie Digh; brothers, Robert Patterson Jr., and Clarence Patterson; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Thursday (tonight) from 7:00 to 8:30pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Cleveland Memorial Park
