Martha "Mot" Hoppes

SHELBY- Martha “Mot” Parris Hoppes, 81, passed away Sunday December 20, 2015 at Wendover Hospice. A native of Cherokee County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Fredrick Reuel and Juanita McDaniel Parris. She was a devout Christian lady and was a member of Lily Memorial Baptist Church. She was a hard worker who loved her family and always put others needs before her own, she will be missed by all who knew her.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her previous husband, Tom Wellmon; one brother, Jack W. Parris; two nephews, Jack W. Parris, Jr., Jodean Parris.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her husband, Noah Hoppes of the home; one daughter, Tami Hamrick and husband Joey; one step-son, Delane Hoppes and wife Traci; one step-daughter, Rita Hoppes Lowe and husband Jim all of Shelby; one sister, Judy Carr of Shelby; one grandchild, Kevin Hamrick and wife Chasity; four step grandchildren, Meghan, Felicity, Fletcher Hoppes, Ian Hoppes and wife Emily; three great grandchildren, Braeley Hamrick, Seth and Hayden Canipe; two step great grandchildren, Norah and Libby Hoppes; two nieces, April Stearns and Shirley Sanders; one nephew, Mike Carr and wife Lisa; two great nephews, Zach Stearns and Luke Carr.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, December 22, 2015, in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

BURIAL: Burial will be at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery
