Margaret Cooke

March 22, 1927 — January 6, 2010

SHELBY- Mrs. Margaret Hazel Cooke, 82, of Gantt Street, died Wednesday, January 6, 2009 at Hospice at Wendover. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Richard Calvin and Stella Spencer Shytle. She retired from Universal Manufacturing Company as an inspector. She was attended Putnam Baptist Church where she was a member of the WMU. She also taught Sunday school at Hulls Grove Baptist Church.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Richard G. Shytle.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Roy Cooke, of the home; a sister Virginia Wallace of Shelby; brother Rev. William Shytle and wife Jessie of Rock Hill; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; Step-son, Roy Steve Cooke of Connelly Springs; special step-daughter in-law, Diane Cooke of Hickory, many loving nieces and nephews, and caregiver during her time of illness, Kay Hinson and husband Ken of Shelby.


VISITATION: The family will receive friends Sunday, 2-4pm, January 10, 2010, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

FUNERAL : The funeral service will be held, 2pm, January 11, 2010, at Putnam Baptist Church, the body will be placed in the chapel thirty minutes prior to the service.

BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.

MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to Putnam Baptist Church, Building Fund, 1146 County Home Road, Shelby 28152.

CLERGY: Rev. Bryan Glisson will be officiating
