SHELBY: Mallie Dixon Carroll, 101, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Ellen Horn Dixon. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, and retired from Celanese.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Hoyt Carroll; four sisters; and one brother.


SURVIVED: She is survived by her son, Douglas Carroll and wife Rebecca of Shelby; grandchildren, Lee Carroll and Wendy Morgan, both of Shelby; great-grandchildren, Hallie, Ashley, Caleb, Elijah and Rachel; and a great-great grandchild, Jackson.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends 6-7:30pm, Tuesday, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home

FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services will be held 3pm, Thursday, at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church

OFFICIATING: Dr. J. Eric Davis will officiate

BURIAL: A private burial will follow in the church cemetery
