SHELBY- Mrs. Lila Stepp Brooks, 87, 105-4 Plato Lee Rd., died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Transylvania County, NC, the daughter of the late Minyard M. and Ollie Frady Stepp. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, a devoted homemaker, and for many years was a hostess for Kentucky Fried Chicken. She was “a woman of great faith” and a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lee Brooks; her brother, Rev. Emmett Stepp; and three sisters, Margie Philbeck, Geneva Hunting, and Flora Edmonson.

SURVIVORS: a son, Fred L. Brooks, Jr. and his wife Annette of Greenville, NC; a daughter, Loretta B. Suttles and her husband Steven of Wharton, NJ; four grandchildren, Damien Suttles, Shannon Massee, Heather Hingtgen, and Aaron Brooks; four great-grandchildren, Kevin Suttles, Damien Massee, and Justin and Jayce Hingtgen; and a number of nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: 6-7:30pm, Thursday (Mar. 1) at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home

FUNERAL: 3:00pm, Friday (Mar. 2) in the Chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

BURIAL: will follow in Beaver Dam Baptist Cemetery

OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Philip Hughes and Dr. Paul Sorrells
