Leona Hoppes Sansing

SHELBY- Mrs. Leona Sansing, 88, of 628 Annieline Drive, died Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Carrie Russ Hoppes. She was retired from Bost Bakery and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to her parents, She was preceded in death by her husband, George Carl Sansing; brothers, F.H. Hoppes, Bobby Gene Hoppes, Wray Hoppes, and Mitchell Hoppes, and sister, Judy Kathleen Glass.

SURVIVORS: She is survived by a son, Roger Dale Sansing and wife, Katherine, of Shelby; a daughter, Patricia Sansing Gardner of the home; a sister, Cora Lee Utley of Plano, Texas; three grandchildren, Debbie Gardner and husband, David, of the home, Roger D. Sansing, Jr. and wife, Pam, of Grover, and Krystal Sansing Reagan, and husband, Richard, of Raleigh; six great-grandchildren, Josh Bridges, Zack Reagan, Breanna Sansing, Connor Reagan and Jessica and Jonathan Boone; four sisters-in-law, Margaret Hoppes of Rome, Georgia, Carolyn Hoppes, of Shelby, Mary Hoppes of Benton, Illinois, and Pantha Brown of Shelby; a special friend, Jerry Putnam; and a number of nieces and nephews.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, and at other times at the home.

FUNERAL: The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 1, 2008 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.

BURIAL: Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
