Leona "Lee" Corley

Shelby: Leona “Lee” Corley, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and devoted member of her church community, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025, in Richland County, South Carolina, at the age of 85. Born on January 10, 1940, in Greenville, South Carolina, she lived a life filled with love, faith, and dedication to her family.

Lee was a longtime member of Westview Baptist Church in Shelby, North Carolina, where she found immense joy in participating in church activities, particularly those involving youth and children. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she cherished the friendships and community she found within her church family.

Aside from her commitment to her church, Lee had a passion for bowling and was an enthusiastic participant in her local bowling league. However, above all else, she loved her family deeply and unconditionally.

Lee was preceded in death by her parents, JT Thompson and Thelma Gillespie, and her beloved husband, Andrew "Andy" Corley Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Corley of West Columbia, SC; her sons, Edward "Ed" Corley of Grover, NC, and Richard "Rick" Corley of Taylors, SC; her sisters, Erline Burns of Piedmont, SC, and Jewell Moon (Leon) of Gray Court, SC; her brother, Troy Thompson (Belinda) of Pelzer, SC; and her cherished grandchildren, Garrett and Hayden.

Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Lee’s life during the visitation, which will be held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home in Shelby, NC. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel, with Dr. Rick Bowling officiating. Interment will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park, Shelby, NC

Lee will be remembered for her warm spirit, unwavering faith, and the love she gave so freely to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed and forever cherished in the hearts of her family and friends.
