L. B. Allen

SHELBY- Mr. L.B. Allen III, 63, of 802 Waters St., died Monday, February 18, 2008 in Charlotte. A native of Tallapoosa County, Alabama, he was a son of the late Larcus Bell Allen II and Katie Kirby Allen. He previously owned Carolina Veterinary Supply and was employed as a delivery driver with Service Express in Charlotte. Mr. Allen served in the Air National Guard and was a member of Lafayette St. United Methodist Church. He loved to hunt and fish.

PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Ashley Lena Allen.

SURVIVORS: He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Joan Kale Allen, of the home; a son, Bo Allen and wife, Melissa, of Shelby; a daughter, Carissa Conley and boyfriend Billy Morris, of Shelby; a brother, Ben Allen of Charlotte; and two grandchildren, Jessica Haley and Bethany Haley, both of Shelby.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

FUNERAL: The funeral will be at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at Clay-Barnette Chapel.

BURIAL: Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park
