SHELBY- Larry Thomas Canipe, born on October 3, 1947, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, peacefully passed away on October 10, 2026, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 79.

Larry was a man of unwavering dedication and spirit. An avid runner, he embraced the challenge and triumph of the Boston Marathon, completing it twice with remarkable determination. His passion for running was matched only by his love for the Atlanta Braves, a team he cheered for with enthusiasm and loyalty. Larry’s commitment extended beyond his personal pursuits; he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, embodying courage and honor.

A devoted member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church, Larry found strength and community in his faith. He was a real good father and provider who loved and cherished his family above all else. His life was a testament to the values of hard work, love, and perseverance.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Nellie Canipe. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Susan Canipe; his sons, Luke Canipe and wife Katie, Brian Canipe and wife Jennifer; and his beloved grandchildren, Kateley Canipe, Maxie Claire Canipe, Libby Canipe, and Jackson Canipe. He also leaves behind his aunt, Margaret Ledford, and niece, Shelley Hoyle.

The family will celebrate Larry’s remarkable life on Wednesday, October 14th, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Larry Thomas Canipe’s legacy is one of inspiration—a man who ran his race with heart, loved fiercely, and lived fully. His memory will continue to inspire all who knew him.
