DREXEL- Kirk Anthony Queen, a cherished son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026, in Shelby, NC, at the age of 70. Born on May 31, 1956, in Burke County and a native of Drexel, NC, Kirk lived a life filled with love, creativity, and music that touched all who knew him.

Kirk spent his professional career at Wells Cleaning and Supply Company in Valdese, NC, where his diligence and dedication were well respected by colleagues and customers alike. However, it was outside of work where Kirk’s vibrant spirit truly shone. He had a profound love for classic rock music, especially the Beatles, whose melodies filled his home and heart. A talented guitarist, Kirk not only played music but also created lasting memories through shared tunes and joyful gatherings with family and friends.

In addition to his passion for music, Kirk was a gifted painter. His creative soul lives on through his artwork,frequently inspired by the world around him and depicting many of his loved ones, which now brings warmth to the homes of those he cherished.

Kirk is preceded in death by his father, Gerald G. Queen, stepmother, Emma Jean Patton Queen, mother, Betty Jane Stamey Queen Gutierrez, stepfather, Ray Gutierrez, maternal grandparents, W. D. and Mary Elizabeth Stamey, and paternal grandparents, Glen and Minnie Fleming, all from Drexel, NC.

He leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor his memory: his brother Bruce Queen and spouse Marga of Mechanicsville, VA; his sisters Michelle Queen of Chapel Hill, NC and Susan Queen Reikowski and spouse Jake of Charlotte, NC ;his nieces Marissa Queen and spouse Jason of Portland, OR and Emily Reikowski of Charlotte, NC.; his nephews Alex F. Queen of Mechanicsville, VA and Dylan Reikowski of Charlotte, NC; and his great-niece Beatrix Queen of Mechanicsville, VA.

Kirk’s legacy is one of joy, creativity, and love—principles he embodied and shared freely. Though he is no longer with us, his music, art, and the warmth of his spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
