Kevin Humphries

MOOOREBORO- Joseph Kevin Humphries, affectionately known as Kevin, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025, at his home in Mooresboro at the age of 53. Born on January 22, 1972, in Cleveland County, Kevin lived a life filled with love, adventure, and unwavering devotion to his family and passions.

Kevin was a man of simple pleasures and profound kindness. Known for his sweet and kind-hearted nature, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who brought joy and warmth into the lives of those around him. Whether it was spending quality time with his grandchildren or tackling a new project under the hood of a car, Kevin's enthusiasm for life was contagious.

His love for cars was apparent in his passion for demolition derbies, where he proudly ran his car under the name "Midnight." An avid sports enthusiast, Kevin cherished weekends spent watching football and cheering on his favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys. NASCAR Sundays were a family tradition, with Kevin rooting for Chase Elliott with unwavering loyalty.

Kevin also found peace and fulfillment in farming, nurturing the land with the same care he gave to his family. His presence was a source of strength and comfort, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Leslie Phillips; his parents, Billy and Brenda Humphries; his sons, Justin Humphries and Lance Donaldson and wife Amber; his daughter, Kassie Humphries and spouse Jay Driskill; his brother, Keith Humphries and his wife Joneil; and his cherished grandchildren, Lilly Driskill, Jordyn Humphries, Jagger Humphries, Adalynn Donaldson and Bentley Donaldson. He also leaves behind his nephew, Josh Humphries and wife Madeline, and numerous aunts and uncles who will miss him dearly.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Kevin's life during the visitation from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, with Pastor Derek Greene officiating. Burial to follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.

Kevin Humphries will be remembered for his generosity, his love for his family and friends, and his zest for life. His spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
