SHELBY- John Henry Williams Sr., 86, died Sat., Dec. 31, 2016, at Carolinas Healthcare System-Cleveland. A native of Union County, he was the son of the late Proney and Lola Howard Williams He was a member of Northside Baptist Church. John worked at Red Bridges BBQ, who were his second family, for 65 years.

PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hellen Williams; and sisters, Sarah Putnam, Martha Weast, Ruth Morgan, and Grace Williams.

SURVIVED: He is survived by his daughter, Becky Williams, of Shelby; son, John Williams Jr. and wife Dianah of Waco; grandchildren, Marybeth Dunn of Kings Mountain, John Michael Williams and wife Amanda of Kings Mountain, and Richard Lane of Cincinnati, OH; great-grandchildren, Lynzie, Bethany, Addi, Bree, Levi, and Luke; and extended family, Will Fredell of Gastonia, and Cory Fredell of Kings Mountain.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

FUNERAL SERVICES: Funeral services will be held 3pm, Wednesday, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel

OFFICIATING: Rev. Stan Webb will officiate

BURIAL: Will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park

MEMORIALS: To the donor’s choice
