A man of many passions, Jimmy spent his early career at Doran Mills until its closing, after which he continued his dedicated work at Webb Chemical. Outside of his professional life, he was well-known for his enthusiasm for antique tractor pulls, flying model airplanes, and fishing. He also shared his love of sports by coaching little league and junior football when his boys were younger.

Jimmy was a cherished member and Deacon at Sandy Plains Baptist Church, where he found solace and joy in both faith and fellowship. Known for his exuberant personality, Jimmy loved to talk and never met a stranger. His warmth and friendliness endeared him to all who crossed his path.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, John Lovelace Jr. and Eunice Wiggins Lovelace, his brother, Kent Lovelace, and his sister, Abbie Lovelace Anthony.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Judy Lovelace, who stood by his side throughout their long and happy marriage. Together, they raised two sons, Jimmy Lovelace Jr. and his wife Julie and Joel Lovelace and his wife Rhonda. He was an adoring and doting grandfather to his granddaughters, Alexa Lovelace and Alana Lovelace, who brought immense joy and light into his life. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Holland, and her husband Dan.

A memorial service to celebrate Jimmy's life will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Sandy Plains Baptist Church, with Rev. Elisabeth Cothran officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
