SHELBY- Mr. James “Jim” Calvin Wheelus, 84, of 131 College Manor Dr, died Sunday, March 8, 2009 at Crawley Memorial Hospital. A native of Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Ed Lawson and Geneva Whittle Wheelus. He served in the U.S. Army.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
SURVIVORS: He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Louise Hoopaugh Wheelus of the home; a son, James “Darrell” Wheelus and wife, Joanne of Greensboro; a daughter, Teressa Wheelus-Slaughter of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
FUNERAL: The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Clay-Barnette Chapel.
BURIAL: Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church building fund, 746 Trinity Church Rd., Mooresboro, NC 28114.
