Jerry Collins

SHELBY- Mr. Jerry Collins, 75, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at Crawley Memorial Hospital. A native of Cleveland county, he was born November 5, 1937, son of the late Horace and Zuna Arrowood Collins. He was a member of Dover Baptist Church and enjoyed music and dancing. He retired after 33 years of service at PPG.

PRECEDED: in addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Alice “Babe” Marie Collins; one sister, Peggy Hudson; one brother Louis Collins

SURVIVED: He is survived by two sons, Mike Collins and wife Gale of Belmont, David Collins and wife Debra of Lawndale; two sisters, Betty Allen of Kings Mountain and Coleen Hawkins of Shelby; one grandchild, Adam Collins of Lawndale; one sister-in-law, LaVonne Collins of Shelby; two brother-in-laws, Horace Hudson of Cherryville and Tommy Doster of Shelby; his adopted family, Ruth, Austin, and Garrett Huffstetler all of Shelby; special “Thank you” to friends and neighbors on Briar Creek Drive and to the doctors of Shelby Pulmonary.

SERVICES: A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Friday at Dover Baptist Church.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

CLERGY: Dr. B. Ervin Price will officiate.

BURIAL: Burial will immediately follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.

MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to the Music Ministry at Dover Baptist Church, 1501 Polkville Rd Shelby, NC 28150.
