CLIFFSIDE- Mr. James “Gene” Owens, Jr., 49, of 193 Academy Street, died Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at Rutherford Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, he is the son of Frances Luco of Shelby and the late James Gene Owens Sr.
PRECEDED IN DEATH: In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother Scott Owens.
SURVIVORS: In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Owens of the home; a daughter, Sara Owens of Cliffside; two sons, Rodney Owens of Cliffside and Lance Owens of Boiling Springs; two sisters, Connie Gilbert and husband John of Boiling Springs and Becky Barnett and husband Frank of Lattimore; three brothers, Robbie Owens of Cherryville, Chris Owens of Shelby, and Barry Nodine of Grover; and two grandchildren, Rodney Michael Owens and James Jordan Owens both of Cliffside.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.
SERVICES: The funeral will be held at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2009.
INTERMENT: Burial will immediately follow in Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery.
CLERGY: The Rev. Mike Carper will be officiating
