GROVER-John “J.D.” Allen, 91, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2016, at White Oak Manor in Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Richard and Lillie Harvey Allen. He was a farmer and retired from Baxter Corp.
PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Allen Allen; one sister; three brothers; and two grandchildren.
SURVIVED: He is survived by his two sons, Joe Dean Allen and wife Beckie of Shelby; Clinton Allen and very special friend Angelia Oliver of Grover; daughter, Sue Allen Roberts and husband Richard of Grover; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Monday, 6-7:30pm, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home
SERVICES: Funeral services will be held 11am, Tuesday, at Patterson Springs Baptist Church
OFFICIATING: Rev. Steve Waters
BURIAL: will follow in the church cemetery
FUNERAL HOME: Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby
