Horace Blanton

SHELBY: Horace “Bubba” E. Blanton, 74, died Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at his home. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Robert and Bessie Bingham Blanton. Horace served as a Staff Sergeant in the Army, retired from Eaton and was active in the American Legion, especially with the World Series. He loved to fish and cut grass. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Catherine, Martha and Heidi; and brother, Jimmy. He is survived by his son, Chad Blanton and wife Tracy of Boiling Springs; sisters, Julie Dover and husband William of Shelby and Sharon Walker and husband Larry of Mooresboro; brothers, Cleo Blanton and wife Marceline of Boiling Springs, Bill Blanton of Clover, SC and Lawrence Blanton and wife Rhonda of Mooresboro; grandchildren, Victoria Blanton and Dustin Lail; and special family friend, Jean Lankford. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Richard Stroup officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
