SHELBY- Miss Ruth Helene Britt, 86, of 823 East Marion Street, died Monday, March 16, 2009 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Perquimans Co., NC she was the daughter of the late James Thomas and Elizabeth Elliot Britt. Mrs. Britt was a member of Central United Methodist Church and worked as a bookkeeper for Dr. H.C. Thompson and Lee's Home and Office Supply.
PRECEDED IN DEATH:. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Carl, Sam, Alvin, James, and Fenton Britt; and one sister Mary Lou Sutton.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by one sister Katherine Jones of Shelby; a brother Julian Britt and wife Colzie, of Houston, TX; and a number of nieces and nephews to whom she liked to refer to as “My Grandchildren.”
VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 1-2pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, Thursday, March 19, 2009.
SERVICE: Ther funeral will be held Thursday, March 19, 2009, 2pm, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.
INTERMENT: Burial will be private to the family at Cleveland Memorial Park.
CLERGY: Rev. Craig Langston and Dr. Joe Reeves will be officiating.
MEMORIALS: Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 200 E. Marion Street, Shelby, 28150
