Hazel Putnam

SHELBY: Hazel Hoyle Putnam, 82, died Saturday, June 12, 2021 at her home. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Lemuel and Letha Swink Hoyle. Hazel was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, where she was active in the Nellie Sue Sunday School Class. She was an avid reader. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Putnam; and her siblings, Ernest Hoyle, Martha Hoyle Jones, Carrie Hoyle Philbeck, Joan Hoyle Wease and Billy Hoyle. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Harris Putnam, of the home; daughters, Ann Putnam Stanley of Shelby and Lea Putnam Rutter and husband Keith of Raleigh; grandchildren, Joshua Mall and wife Luiza, Jessica Stanley and Rebecca Mall. A memorial service to honor the life of Hazel will be held 1pm, Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tim Trexler officiating. The family will receive friends following the service, as attendees leave. Memorials may be made to Mt. Sinai Baptist Church building fund, 1227 Mt. Sinai Church Road, Shelby, NC 28152
