Born on July 2, 1928, in York County, SC, he was the son of the late Benjamin Franklin Childers and Laura Hogue Childers.
Grady served his country with honor as a member of the United States Marine Corps, demonstrating his unyielding commitment to service. Following his service, he dedicated 47 years to Plantation Pipeline in Greensboro, NC, where his steadfast work ethic and supportive nature deeply impacted the lives of many co-workers and friends. Known as a jack of all trades and a master of many, Grady was gifted with his hands and could fix anything, traits that he generously shared with friends, church, and community.
Grady was an avid golfer and fisherman who relished spending time outdoors. He took great joy in yard work and embraced the satisfaction of a job well done. His talents were not only practical but also deeply appreciated by those around him.
A faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Grover, Grady served diligently on the deacon board and maintenance committee. His dedication to his faith and community was evident in every endeavor he undertook.
Grady is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jack Childers; and his sisters, Lucille Neal and Ella Mae Moore, along with many nieces and nephews who cherished him dearly. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 75 wonderful years, Dorothy "Dot" Cooke Childers, as well as countless nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who adored "Uncle Grady" for the love and wisdom he imparted.
