Gladys B. Duncan

SHELBY- Mrs. Gladys Barrett Duncan, 90, of 333 Grice St., died Monday, June 25, 2007 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late William Michael and Fannie Humphries Barrett. Mrs. Duncan was retired as both a self-employed seamstress and a waitress for Alston Bridges Barbecue. She was the oldest charter member of Bethel Baptist Church. She enjoyed baking and watching the kids play ball.

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Duncan, three brothers, five sisters, and a granddaughter, Pam Rienerth.

SURVIVORS: She is survived by three sons, Roy Duncan and wife, Brenda, Jim Duncan, and Danny Duncan and wife Pat, all of Shelby; two daughters, Carol Rienerth and husband, Tom of Onancock, VA and Jeanette Patterson and husband, Jack, of Shelby; nine grandchildren, Mark Rienerth and Matt Rienerth, both of Norfolk, VA, Michael Patterson of Atlanta, GA, Todd Duncan, Cheri Evans, Lisa Ridings and Lora Gold, all of Shelby, Patti Rienerth of Norfolk, VA and Amy Duncan, of Gastonia; ten great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and all of her friends and neighbors.

VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, Jeanette Patterson, 404 S. Washington St., Shelby.

FUNERAL: Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Family Life Center of Bethel Baptist Church; body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m.

OFFICIATING: Drs. Tim Sims and J.M. Ezell

BURIAL: Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
