SHELBY- Gene Allen, 86, of Bear Creek Road, passed away Monday, December 14, 2015 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center. A native of Cleveland county, he was the son of the late Charles Lester and Jessie Dover Allen. He was a member of Zoar Baptist Church.
PRECEDED: In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by seven brother, and three sisters.
SURVIVED: He is survived by his lovely wife of 65 years, Peggy Blanton Allen of the home; one son, Donald Gene Allen and wife Glenda; one daughter, Lynn Plummer and husband, Jim; two sisters, Mary Faye Bridges and husband Bud, Pauline Philbeck all of Shelby; four grandchildren, BriAnne Allen, Beth Canipe and husband Chris, Brian Plummer and wife Heather, Amanda Masters and husband Brian; six grandchildren.
SERVICES: A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Thursday in the Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home
CLERGY: Dr. Rob Helton and Dr. Robert Rose
BURIAL: Cleveland Memorial Park
MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the donor’s choice n Gene’s name.
FUNERAL HOME: Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Shelby.
