Dorothy Merck

KINGS MOUNTAIN — Dorothy Gene Head Merck, 71, passed away Thursday March 30, 2017 at her residence.
A native of Greenville County, SC, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Elizabeth Betty Holden Head.
She was a dog lover but the ones that really brought her the greatest joy was her beloved fur babies, Smonkey, Baby, Tiny, and Black Dog .
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald E. Merck; a brother, Bob Head from Grover.
She is survived by one son, Jeffery Dean Smith of Kings Mountain; one sister, Ginny Head Thompson of Oklahoma.
The family will have a gathering of family and friends, Thursday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Kings Mountain.
Burial will be at a later date, announced by the family, at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
Clay-Barnette Funeral Home of Kings Mountain is in charge of arrangements.
