Kings Mountain It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Donna Renee Winstead, a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to love, strength, and independence. Born on July 25, 1955, in Gaston County, NC, she left this world on February 4, 2026, in Kings Mountain, at the age of 70.

Donna was a devoted homemaker whose legacy is deeply etched into the fabric of her family. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and joy, where she shared cherished recipes and celebrated the art of cooking with her loved ones. Donna's passion for life's simple pleasures was evident in her interests, from watching her favorite films like "Dirty Dancing" and "Titanic," to enjoying the captivating stories on Lifetime and Hallmark channels. She found solace and inspiration in the melodies from her preferred radio stations, 106.9, K-Love and I-Heart Radio

A lover of beauty, Donna adored butterflies, hummingbirds, and anything Thomas Kinkade. Her home was filled with colonial knick-knacks, each piece a reflection of her appreciation for life's wonders. Her grand son-in-law's doodles were treasures that brought smiles to her days.

Donna was deeply involved with her faith community at Gloryland Missionary Baptist Church, where she found strength and fellowship. Her unwavering spirit and fierce independence were qualities that guided her through life's challenges and triumphs.

Preceded in death by her father Jessie Winstead, brother Timothy Winstead, sister Cathy Winstead, grandson Wilfredo Lopez Jr, and her two beloved husbands, Gary Summitt and Charles Hastings, Donna is now reunited with them in eternal peace.

Her legacy lives on through her beloved family: her cherished dog Angel Bear, mother Edith Dawn, children Crystal Grier (husband Timothy Grier) and Chad Summitt (wife Stacy Summitt), sister Barbara Winstead, brothers Michael Winstead and Junior Winstead, grandchildren Rebecca Blanton (husband Eddie Blanton), Christopher Ensley (wife Bonnie), Katherine Carver (significant other Abel), Mateo Lopez (significant other Amanda), Malachi Lopez, Kayla Bowen (significant other Erik), Alley Summitt, Jackson Summit, Nicholas Summitt and great-grandchildren Corey Ensley, Stephanie Bailes, Hazel Bailes, Brayden Martin, Brilei Bowen, and Grayson Summitt, with another great-grandchild on the way. She is also survived by her uncle Johnny Winstead and aunt Doris Winstead.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in her honor on February 10th at 6:30 PM at Gloryland Missionary Baptist Church, located at 101 Benfield Road, Kings Mountain, NC 28086. The service will be officiated by Pastor David Murry
