SHELBY: Mrs. Donis Putnam “Mama Putt” Sparks, 75, of 505 Kingcrest Drive, Flat Rock, formerly of Shelby, died Monday May 8, 2006 at the Pardee Care Center in Flat Rock.

FUNERAL: 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church

BURIAL: Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery

VISITATION: an hour before the service at the church

PERSONAL HISTORY: Born in Cleveland County to the late John and Gurden Brackett Jones, she was retired from Celanese and was a member at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She was affectionately known as “Mama Putt” to all who knew her.

PRECEDED IN DEATH BY: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William “Bill” Putnam, her second husband, Lionel Sparks, a brother, Charles Jones, two sisters, Rae Stroup and Patricia Mode and two grandchildren, Chad Putnam and Nicole Putnam.

SURVIVORS: Son, Michael Putnam and wife, Alice of Winterville; daughter, Connie McSwain and husband, Bud, of Flat Rock; grandchildren, Joshua McSwain and wife, Danielle, and Michael Putnam and wife, Rebecca, all of Raleigh, Kayelyn Putnam of Winterville, Heather Dixon and husband, Chris, of Vanceboro; great grandchildren, Grayson Putnam and Chase Putnam, both of Raleigh, Meadowe Peele and Brooklyn Dixon, both of Vanceboro; and many friends and family who dearly loved her.
