SHELBY- Donald "Don" Hughdean Williams, a cherished resident of Cleveland County, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on March 22, 1942, in Cleveland Co., NC, Don spent his life in the community that he loved deeply

Don dedicated 42 remarkable years of service to PPG, where he began as a Fixer and progressed to a role in Maintenance. His work was not merely a job but a calling that he embraced with passion and devotion. He found joy and purpose in every task, always accompanied by his signature humor and a keen ability to transform any stranger into a friend.

A man of vibrant interests, Don had a particular fondness for bowling and an unwavering enthusiasm for working on cars. His garage was often filled with projects that reflected both his skill and love for the craft. Beyond his mechanical pursuits, Don was a devoted member of the New Bethel Church of Shelby, where he participated in mission trips, driven by his profound faith and desire to make a difference in the world.

Above all, Don's heart belonged to his family. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them. To Don, they were the brightest stars in his universe, providing more joy and love than words could ever express.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Leonia Williams; his beloved wife, Connie Williams; his sister, Linda Williams; his great-granddaughter, Zoey Mills; and his sister-in-law, Ann Williams. His enduring legacy lives on through his surviving family: son Jeffrey Williams and wife Shelly; daughters Constance Edwards and Sandi Wright and husband Chuck; sister Carol Sanders and husband Joel; brothers Arnold Williams and Wayne Williams and wife Kathy; and grandchildren Lindsay Ruppe and husband David, Madison Tessneer and husband Austin, Allie Edwards, Brittnay Mills and husband Bobby, Chelsea Williams and fiancé Charles McSwain, Justin Wright and wife Tatum, and Jake Wright and wife Kenzie. He also leaves behind ten adored great-grandchildren: Malachi, Jeremiah, Aubree, Coleson, Devin, Harper, Hayden, Adalynn, Blakely, and Rylee Kate.

Known for his humble nature and his gift for storytelling, Don never met a stranger. His presence was a beacon of warmth, laughter, and kindness—a true testament to a life well-lived.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 1, 2026, at New Bethel Church of Shelby, officiated by Pastor Mark Patchett. Family and friends are invited to gather from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM before the service to share memories and celebrate the life of this remarkable man. Following the service, Don will be laid to rest at Sunset Cemetery.

In honor of Don, let us remember to embrace the simple joys of life, cherish our loved ones, and continue to turn strangers into friends. His legacy of love and laughter will be carried in our hearts forever.
