SHELBY-Mrs. Della "Ninnie" M. Rainey, 77, of 621 Leander St., died Sat., Dec. 18, 2010 at Hospice House of Kings Mountain. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Dollie Riley Mellon. She was a charter member of John Knox Presbyterian Church, and she spent many years volunteering at Graham Elementary School.
PRECEDED: In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lyndal Rainey; sister, Irene Mellon; and brother Robert Mellon.
SURVIVED: She is survived by her loving daughter, Dianne Whisnant and husband Woody of Shelby; brother, Cecil Mellon and wife Dollie of Lattimore; three grandchildren, Marcus Lyndal Whisnant of Chicago, Lukus Daniel Whisnant of Charlotte and Shelia Charity Whisnant of Shelby; two great grandchildren, Abigail Grace and Caleb James Whisnant, both of Shelby.
SERVICES: The funeral will be held 11am Wednesday at John Knox Presbyterian Church.
VISITATION: The family will receive friends Tuesday, 6-8pm at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, and other times at the home.
