SHELBY- With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Debra Ann Ermer, who left this world on May 29, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on March 26, 1961, in Brooklyn, NY, and passing in Shelby, NC, Debra's life was marked by her intense spirit, spunky demeanor, and strong-willed nature.
Debra's journey was truly one of dedication and passion. Proudly serving as a CNA, she devoted herself to caring for home health patients, where her compassionate nature touched the lives of many. In her work, she found both purpose and fulfillment, continually showcasing her ability to bring comfort and warmth to those in need.
Her creativity knew no bounds. Debra found joy in crafting, designing tumblers and t-shirts, wood etching, and knitting. Her green thumb was renowned, as she lovingly tended to her plants and trees, bringing life and beauty to her surroundings. Debra's love for animals radiated in her care for them, adding warmth and companionship to her life.
Family was the cornerstone of Debra's existence, and she relished the moments spent gathered around the dinner table, sharing laughter and creating memories. Her love for her family was boundless, and her nurturing presence was a source of strength for all who knew her.
Debra is preceded in death by her parents, Dominic and Margaret Gallo; her brother, Bobby Gallo; and her nephew, Justin Gallo. She leaves behind a family who will continue to honor her legacy: her devoted husband of 41 years, Matthew Ermer; her beloved son, Corey Ermer, and his wife Ashley; her cherished daughters, Claudia Medina and her husband Alberto, and Priscilla Poulin. Also surviving are her sisters, Barbara Volk and her husband Jim, and Theresa Dysard and her husband Eddie; her brother, Billy Gallo; her treasured grandchildren, AnnaBeth Ermer, Lincoln Ermer, Dominique Toney and her husband Grady, Christopher Medina, Ethan Poulin, and Olivia Poulin; and her precious great-granddaughter, Madelaine Toney.
Debra Ann Ermer's life was a testament to strength, love, and creativity. Her vibrant spirit and unwavering devotion to her family will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
