SHELBY- David Ray LaMountain, born on September 16, 1968, in Cleveland County, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 3, 2026. At the age of 57, he found a celestial fishing hole—a place where carp are abundant and the wristwatches tick eternally.

David's life was a tapestry of kindness, warmth, and generosity—a man with the softest soul, who would help anyone in need. His true happiness came from moments at the carp lake, rod in hand, ready to battle the biggest carp he could find, always believing the next one would be the trophy catch.

A devoted fan of both the Philadelphia Eagles and Alabama Football—Roll Tide!—David found joy in the camaraderie of watching games and cheering for his favorite teams. He held a deep appreciation for the craftsmanship of wristwatches, seeing beauty in the intricate dance of time itself, much like the beauty he saw in life's simple pleasures.

A devout Christian, David’s faith was the guiding light in his life, bringing him deep peace and fulfillment. He was preceded in death by his father, Rick LaMountain; step-mother, Terry LaMountain; and his beloved dog, Lucy.

His legacy of love and compassion lives on through his surviving family: his son, Joshua LaMountain, and wife, Tabitha; his devoted mother, Cheryl Edgar; his caring sister, Nikki Ledford, and her husband, Chris; and his treasured grandchildren, Abby, Khloe, Aubrey, Joslyn, and Nicholas LaMountain.

David's spirit will forever be carried in the hearts of those who loved him, including his niece, Lacie Ledford; nephews, Cody, Payton and Nicholas McCurry; his great-nephew, Bryson Cooper; his best friend, Marcus Dover; and his friend, Buddy Early. His faithful dogs, Bama and Philly, miss him dearly.

A celebration of David’s life will be held at 1:00PM Saturday, July 11, 2026 at Clay-Barnette with Rev. Robert Dover officiating. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service to share memories of a life well lived.

David Ray LaMountain touched the lives of all who knew him—with his unwavering kindness, helpful nature, and genuine spirit. Heaven has gained a gentle soul whose impact on this world will never be forgotten. May he rest in eternal peace.
